Ambition is the inclination in attaining prominence, a position of power or having an influence on people. Being gritty is very different from being ambitious because grit does not ask for fame or people’s attention. As in the above definition of grit, it is more about focusing on oneself rather than on the surroundings. The word “lifelong” often collocates with “ambition”, hence it has one aspect in common with grit, which is all about achieving a long-term goal. However, the distinguishing feature here is gritty people do not aim for publicity but for a personal goals.
