Can justice coexist with ambition on this world? Is a ambitious hero always have to be at the good side? How does ambition lead a hero to the wrong side and destroy him? In the famous play Macbeth created by Shakespeare. Macbeth, drove by his own ambition to become king, plan to murderer the king with lady Macbeth while king is sleeping in their house at night. He was on his way to murder the king in his bedroom and he saw a imaginary dagger in air leading him the way, so he gave the famous soliloquy describing his thoughts before he murder king Duncan. Ambition has changed Macbeth character. This soliloquy was given before Macbeth actually murder the king, the murder of Duncan become the start of Macbeth tragedy which directly lead to his final death. His ambition become Macbeth tragic flaw, Macbeth used to be a good general, loyal supporter of the king. He treat his friend Banquo and his king Duncan with respect and loyalty, before he meet the witches, he never even though about betraying his lord. In this soliloquy, his perfect personality start to corrupt. Before the soliloquy he used to be afraid of the thoughts of murdering the king, but now he is not afraid of it and even desire for it, all kinds of evil thoughts is proceeding in his brain. “Witchcraft celebrates pale Hecate’s offerings, and withered murder, Alarmed by his watch, thus with his stealth peace, with Tarquin’s ravishing toward his design move like a ghost”(act 2. scene 1. 64-65) After he saw the three witches, he starts to believe in super nature evil things, he even compare the murder he is now doing with Tarquin’s rape of Lucreece.
