Hello once again viewers! I have been reading the book Amelia Earhart, First Lady of Flight by Jan Parr. The book is a biography of Amelia Earhart, a female pilot that was lost around the 1930s. In this blog post I am going to talk about three important events from this book. One important event of the book was when Amelia Earhart started to attend flying school. Now, doing this was expensive for Amelia. When her parents said that they couldn't pay it, she decided to get a job to pay for the flying lessons. She then received flying lessons from Neta Snook, a female pilot who gave flying lessons. During these lessons she learned much about flying. This is an important event because the knowledge of flying would be something that would carry on the rest of her life. As we continue reading the book another important event occurs. This event is when Amelia flew across the Atlantic. This was a big deal at the time! The reason being that there had been many attempts to fly a lady across the Atlantic, but all of them resulted in a crash. This flight though did not crash and was …show more content…

People have done it before her, but did it by going around one of the poles(They did this because it was a shorter distance around the world if you are at the top of the circular globe). Amelia wanted to go around the world the longer way. [Flight Plan here]. It took tons of planning before she could event start. She had to plan her route(as shown in the picture), pay the expenses, and get clearances from the government. The clearances were not a very big issue for Amelia because she was friends of the current president, Theodor Roosevelt. He was able to get her clearances in a matter of days. Now that she had everything planned and ready to go she took off to attempt to circumnavigate the world. This event was very important because it was during this trip that Amelia was never seen
