I want you to close your eyes for a moment. Imagine Amendment 70 passes, what do you see? Do you see yourself prospering? No longer living check to check? Now open them. Amendment 70 seems like a God send doesn’t it. This is simply an illusion, a mirage in the desert. However way you want to put it, Amendment 70 seems too good to be true because it is. I do understand that it does bring some benefits. According to a University of Denver study, $400 million added to the Colorado economy and a 20 percent boost of incomes within households in the state. Because of these benefits and a few more, we become blindsided by the consequences that this bill will bring us. These consequences may impact us more directly than we thought. Businesses is where we get receive our income, of course. Whether it is a large company such as Walmart or a small, family owned store that is near your home, they produce jobs so we can earn the cash we so direly need. How do you efficiently earn money without one? With the passing of Amendment 70, approximately 90,000 jobs will be eliminated, 90,000 jobs. Let this sink in. As I’ve stated before, inflation would occur to keep businesses afloat in their metaphorical boat. My assumption is many of us turn to the “knock-off” brand or skip the item entirely to save money. Amendment 70 will cause us to remove our favorite cereals off of our grocery list. Of course this would not only apply to cereal. A similar effect would happen across all types of stores: clothing, fast food, services.
