America During The Cold War

Unlike many wars fought in our history of the human race. The Cold War was different, tensions were at an all time high. The threat of nuclear force was great. This was a war fought without many direct skirmishes, it was more of a political battle varying over different ideologies and philosophy. The Americans who believed in a constitutional republic, opposed to the Soviet Union, who were a communist state.

With many opposed to the communist movement, there were a couple of which hunts to find and disable these communists who were in America. You could say one of the first clashes was the Korean war. The was one direct opposition to the idea of communism. The fight between communism, and democracy. The CIA soon tried to dismantle the communist influenced ideals in Guatemala. Vietnam was the next issue. It

The main members were The Soviet Union, and other communist nations. Fidel Castro took power in Cuba, and started to spread his communist ideologies. In response, the Americans form a Alliance Of Progress, to try to stop communism in Latin America. With some effort paying off, it wasn't enough. The bay of pigs invasion was the next attempt. It was unsuccessful. It was meant to be a way to expel the pro-communist officials. But ended in a defeat.

The Cuban missile crisis was the next terror. With the discovery of Soviet missile installations on Cuban soil. With the purpose of having a foot hold to have a first strike scenario, it was meant to stay secret, until needed. Tensions were cooled slightly when President John F. Kennedy declared that any missile fired would constitute a full on war.

In the Year 1991, the Cold War had ended, with the signature of President George H. W. Bush and the leader of the Soviet Union had introduced the Strategic Arms Reduction Talk. This was meant to disarm the supply of nuclear weapons. After it was signed, the Soviet Union disbanded, into independent
