The American Apparel and Footwear Association was established in August 2000 by the joining of the American Apparel Manufacturers Association and Footwear Industries of America, which are two highly trusted associations. (History). The American Apparel Manufacturers Association was founded in 1960 and was a national association the represented all of the United States apparel manufactures. (History). This association took the stand to represent every division in the industry regardless of how big the company is or where it is located. The suppliers who have a membership with this association would deliver wide assortments of products as well as material for all of the needed trades. The mission of the Footwear Industries of America Association is the “help the United States footwear companies achieve growth through education, advocacy, research, and networking opportunities.” (History). The purpose of the American Apparel and Footwear Association is to be the political voice for all of the individuals in the apparel and footwear industry. (Mission). Thousands of name brands trust their policy and choose them to represent their brands. I learned that this association took the initiative to be the leader of the apparel and footwear industry so they can ensure a constant success and growth for every person involved in this industry. (Mission). The American Apparel and Footwear Association also contributes around $362 billion in the annual retail sales in the United States. (Mission).
