The author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote many books about mystery in his lifetime. He was born in 1859 and died in 1930. In the beginning Doyle only did writing as a hobby but as time went on Arthur’s work became renowned throughout the world especially because of the book Sherlock Holmes. The book sherlock Holmes is one fo the most know detective and mystery story that captivated audiences. Doyle’s stories were published around the world on television and were published in many works past his lifetime. Doyle was greatly influenced by his childhood turning him to the author he has become now.. Doyle was the second of ten children in his family, who lived in Britain. Doyle was living in a home where he “was brought up in an atmosphere of financial and emotional strain” (Hendry-Seabrook 1). Doyle’s father Charles Altamont Doyle was an artist who pursued his talent. Charles had a hard time helping his family with financial aid and was subdued by alcohol which got him placed into an asylum where he died. On the other hand Doyle’s mother,Mary, helped provide money for Doyle's education. As Doyle wanted to go into a medical career he had to support himself by taking part-time jobs and other small jobs to pay for his education “...but in his spare time he was already writing—and publishing anonymously—short adventure stories” (Hendry-Seabrook 1). The troubling childhood that Doyle had made Doyle find ways of secluding himself and let his thoughts run. This led to him writing in his spare time encouraging his story telling and improvement in writing skills. The reason behind Doyle writing in the first place is his profession. Through his doctor career he had many period of peacetime and quiet where he wrote as a hobby starting with adventure-like stories and the specializing in mystery.
