Equality. Opportunity. Prosperity. The American Dream paints a vision in which each of these ideals are ever present and available to all individuals inside the vast border of the nation. The notion is that every individual can, through concentrated efforts and dedication, improve their own socioeconomic class and climb up the hierarchy.
Industry and Economics, the Heart of America The “American Dream” is commonly known as the belief that any American, regardless of birthplace or class, can make a living and a name for themselves through hard work and America’s free-enterprise system (Investopedia). This ideal of thought can be traced all the way back to the industry and economics in America in the 1700s. In 18th Century America work was prosperous, demanding, and necessary to provide for a family.
The American Dream Why is the American dream a prominent sought out ambition between the individuals living within America? The question of the American dream has always been long debated and has a flexible topic structure. A consistent belief of this dream can be irregular and vary between people. The creation of the American dream is derived from the Declaration of Independence which states that each individual has the right to, “life,liberty,and the pursuit of happiness.” A fundamental aspect of the American dream is perseverance that will lead to financial prosperity in any case irregardless of social class or additional factors.

The American dream is a dream of land in which life should be better and richer for everyone. It’s a land where people succeed to accomplish their ambition of a better life. Most of the people have a different way of defining this American Dream. Unfortunately, for some, it could mean wealth,status,or power whereas for others it could mean companionship, good morals,love,and amity. According to our Declaration of Independence, it entitles every man and woman the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
In 1775, right after the battles, the colonies were at war with Britain. Some Americans thought that King George Ⅲshould still be their rulers, but most thought that they it was worth fighting for independence. Many people gave speeches and wrote documents or pamphlets to express their thinking. For example, Patrick Henry, from Virginia, gave a speech and said, “Give me liberty or give me death!”
Based on Declaration of Independence, Americans take on the “American Dream”. The idea of the American dream is based on a fantasy that an individual can achieve success regardless of family history, race, or religion just by simply working hard enough. Americans have this belief because they are protected by the above document. They believe that they are entitled to achieve their dreams because they can.
It looks like America has been fighting a crisis for centuries. It’s not a war on a battlefield of a history book you’ve read. It’s a fight for a dream that could potentially separate America from being so great. It’s that the American dream has changed from when it first began, to a broader idea.
