There has been a long-standing rivalry with these 3 types of cars specifically the rivalry between American and European cars started in the 1950’s. Right after WWII when European imports became more known in America. Many of the European imports back then a regular driver in America could not Afford the cars due to them being very expensive. But this was not a big deal for Americans because they were too busy making their V8 muscle cars hot rods. They were light and fast with their predominantly 4 cylinder engines and with emission restriction and rising oil prices the Japanese had a market hold on the Americans. The era of muscle cars ended in the 1980’s. People realised how expensive big 8 cylinder engines were to keep running and decided to get cheap 4 cylinders that got a lot more MPG than American muscle. But the following of muscle cars was not completely gone and would try to make a come back in later years. In the 80’s the American muscle cars may have fallen a bit out of popularity but they also had a few great gems in that time too.
