(War of 1812 - 1815). The very next year in 1807 Great Britain decided that they were going to play the same game as France and made it illegal for France and all allies of France to trade with each other. In response to the childish games that France and Great Britain were playing the United States Congress passed laws to “[prohibit] U.S. vessels” from doing business with the European Nations (War of 1812 - 1815). In 1810 the United States decided that realistically this wasn 't exactly doing what it was suppose to so they opened trade back up with the European Nations on the condition that France and Great Britain
Trade with Germany fell to less than 1% than it previously did.4. The U.S traded with the Allies massive amounts of munitions and went to great extents to do so. The U.S sent many of their trades with ships that contained innocent civilians in attempt to cover up their intentions. When Germany shot down ships that contained munitions the innocent Americans were killed. This set an uproar within the country and blamed Germany.
Soon after this the 1st Neutrality Act act was passed by the government which didn’t allow Americans to lend any money to the warring nations. Following this act, the the 2nd Neutrality act was passed which clearly stated that any ship from America wasn’t allowed to carry supplies or any people to the nations involved in war. We can see that during the time 2nd neutrality act the us was not really sticking with their plan of staying completely

During World War I, the Germans use a fighting tactic called Unrestricted Submarine Warfare. German U-Boats, or submarines, were told to sink any ship that posed a threat, passenger or cargo, it did not matter. In a newspaper article it shows that the Lusitania was a passenger boat going from the coast of New York to Ireland that was sunk by a German submarine (“Lusitania”). The fact that Germany sunk a passenger ship without reason infuriated the Americans. As the political cartoon by Matthew Bollinger shows, President Woodrow Wilson is holding a piece of paper that says that American lives were lost on the sinking of this ship (Bollinger).

The United States was not neutral in World war one. Although the US did not join the war until 1917; when the war started in 1914, and they labelled themselves as neutral they subconsciously did things and made request that ultimately helped the Allied powers which were Great Britain, France, Russia, and Italy. Neutrality is the mission of the American people during the time of an ongoing war between world power. Ultimately this mission ends up failing and the United States gets dragged into an ongoing World War, this was first seen in World War I. After the war was over the Japanese Empire got the the short end of the stick and resented the war. This is how Japan went from ally to enemy in the eyes of the American people. The actions of the Japanese sparked a conflict, launching the United States into the side of the Allies of World War II. America's allies in Europe were facing starvation. Farmers no longer could grow crops and raise livestock because most were off to fight in the war. The war made it hard for food and other materials to be imported into America, so the US issued ration books. Ration books help people in need of food and other necessities. There were stamps, without the stamps, you weren't allowed to purchase any of the goods that you would be able to do normally.
