When I rushed Kappa Phi Lambda, I thought it was going to be an opportunity to be in one happy sisterhood; however, it was quite different when I crossed. I noticed that some classes were divided where there were some tensions and some older sisters would talk down to the younger ones. It did not seem like a happy sisterhood at all at times. My goal when I had Sister Events Chair was to overcome those tensions between classes; however, it did not last. One goal for me personally is to try and build a connection with all sisters I met. Everyone is different; therefore, you have to get to know them and understand how to communicate effectively with them. For example, some sisters do not like joking around or beating around the bush. The bigger the chapters and colonies are, there will be a larger amount of sisters who needs to attend in order to meet the minimum requirements. Not to mention, travel requirements can be a hassle for most sisters due to financial situations and it is difficult at times to send a large number of sisters to attend conferences. My suggestion for all sisters is to do a major fundraiser each month if possible to raise money for travel requirements. A way to get sisters to be more active is by using incentives. For example, one sister within the chapter or colony who attend the most events will get one Kappa gear or a gift certificate and it can be monthly. Another major issue I notice is that some sisters is not paying close attention to our national philanthropy CARE. Some sisters do not do enough research on CARE and they would ask could we suggest changing our national philanthropy. Not to mention, I believe most chapters and colonies focus on their local philanthropy more than our national philanthropy. My suggestion is making fun fact sheets and sends it to each chapters and colonies where they can know the basic information and some interesting facts they never knew before. Furthermore, they can use this during rush
