So far the Book of Negroes has had various archetypal characters and symbols. An Archetypal character that we can easily associate Aminata is the hero. As the readers we feel her quest for freedom and justice. In the novel when Solomon Lindo said

“‘it is in our faith to give others what they need to be independent’. Aminata quickly responded with ‘then why don't they set me free’”?( Hill 288).

This makes the reader understand that freedom is an essential basic human right above all things. She is an outspoken and courageous young woman who wants justice. What has helped me foresee this outcome is that this story is told by Aminata in the future where she is in London living free. We know she is living free because there is dialogue with her and abolitionists living in London who want to use her story to help abolish slavery. This shows us readers that this story has a happy ending and Aminata does succeed in her quest for
