Chapter 1 of Foster’s book is about recognizing the quest in a novel. Foster explains that “the quest consists of five things: a quester, a place to go, a stated reason to go, challenges and trials en route, and a real reason to go there” (Foster, 3) which all can be found in Mary Shelley’s novel of Frankenstein. In the novel, Victor Frankenstein is the quester. He wants to further explore the human body and natural world which leads him to the creation of a monster. Victor says he wants to “give life to an animal as complex and a wonderful as man” (Shelley, 52) and this is his stated reason to go.
The actions of an individual defines the boundary between sympathy and wickedness. Their behaviors and thoughts change the plot of the story and character identity. Mary Shelley uses moral ambiguity to overlook the unrealistic nature of her story. In Frankenstein, this concept incorporates itself into Mary Shelley’s characters. Ambiguity invokes an attachment between the figures and readers.
Internal Conflict in Frankenstein Frankenstein. A name that is known around the world. Mary Shelley, the author of Frankenstein, wrote this classic in 1818 when she was 19 years old. Mary Shelley did not anticipate that her book would grow to be this well known. Though she did plan how the book’s motifs and themes would be significant, including internal conflict.
In Mary Shelley’s articulate novel Frankenstein, the main character, Victor Frankenstein, experienced a substantial amount of change after the creation of his creature. Subsequent to the death of his wife, Elizabeth, Frankenstein faced a depressing turn, “Nothing is so painful to the human mind as a great and sudden change.” The death of his spouse was so overwhelming to Frankenstein that he became emotionally distraught. People have to go through changes all the time, and the ability to adjust to change is just another rite of passage through life. I too, have succumbed to the impact of unexpected change.
Personal morals must always trump job requirements regardless of the personal stakes, employees have responsibilities and duties to deny job requirements when they interfere with personal morals and values. On Wall Street, many powerful employers force their workers to complete horrendous tasks some of which would interfere with their personal beliefs and ideals. Many workers do not have enough self-respect to stand up to those who abuse their power, instead accept the demands, and let their morals be ignored, which mostly leads to negative consequences. The novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley says a person is responsible for their actions if they do not weigh the possible consequences of their actions before making their final decision. Throughout the novel, Mary Shelley shows the consequences of actions that are done without proper thought beforehand. Victor Frankenstein wants to create life, he wants to be god, and his lust for this goal overtakes his common sense. Victor rushes into making his creature and then makes rash decisions which also contributes to his demise and the death of several of his close friends and family. The monster should be held responsible for his actions to a certain extent, however, his actions are influenced by Victor’s initial impetuous decisions.
Failures and successes in life have led many people to believe that destiny plays a role in one's future life outcome. Some say destiny, the “hidden power believed to control what will happen in the future”, is unchangeable; fate has already decided how one will live their life. Although in some cases this may be true, one is able to change their destiny by the deeds and actions they commit during their lifetime. Many people disregard the idea that actions play a large role in forming one's future.
Science covers numerous viewpoints of everyday life and reality. There are numerous studies that include the study of environment, universe, and animals. Another well known study of science is the study of people and life. In “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley, Victor Frankenstein is an inspiring scientist who researched the dead. Victor hopes to be the first person ever to accomplish the impossible by giving life to the dead.
The knocking stopped suddenly although it’s echos were still in the house. “I’m sorry” The words resounded through the room, giving off an eerie atmosphere. Mrs.White slowly turned around, a mix of both fear and desperation in her eyes. “You didn’t” she whispered, as tears threatened to fall.
Throughout literature, abandonment is a leading cause of conflict and struggle. In Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein is successful in his endeavor to create life, but once he sees the life he has created he runs from it out of fear. This causes the Creature to be left all alone, which makes him grow bitter and want to take revenge on Victor by getting rid of the people in his life. The Creature kills Victor’s brother William, his best friend Clerval, and his fiancee Elizabeth. All because he had nobody to love him.
Dr, Frankenstein is the true victim of the novel Frankenstein The term victim describes anyone who suffers as a result of one or multiple unfortunate incidents. In Frankenstein, Mary Shelley portrays a number of different characters as potential victims, in particular: the creature, and Dr. Frankenstein. The similarities among the two in initial experiences create difficulty in labelling one as the true victim. However, as the story progresses, it is evident that the creature is able to overcome his fate of victimization by actively responding to his unsuccessful experiences.
When writing any piece of fiction, an author 's choice of narrative voice has a huge impact on how readers experience the story. From the slightly less personal yet versatile third-person to the narrow, limited view of first-person, the narrative voice literally provides the voice of literature. It affects which characters the reader really connects with, the opinions that influence them, the knowledge they have, and numerous other aspects. While most authors stick with only one tense, Mary Shelley challenged that standard in Frankenstein. Frankenstein: From Benevolent to Feind “I was benevolent and good; misery made me a fiend.” (Shelley 69) Said by Frankenstein’s monster, this quote truly defines him: initially an affectionate, love-seeking creature, he transformed into an enraged killer, angry at humanity for the undeservedly poor way he was treated. Victor Frankenstein is an unique, complex individual who encounters a similar change of nature for similar reasons. The quote—though spoken by the monster—encapsulates the evolution of Victor Frankenstein’s personality; misery—a product of isolation and loneliness—aroused a deterioration of temperament from an initially benevolent Frankenstein.

Throughout the novel, the main character Frankenstein, made many poor decisions that I would consider to be morally wrong and unethical. Frankenstein’s research and discoveries are ethically wrong because he was taking dead bodies from cemeteries, cutting off their limbs, and body parts to create a human like creature. He did not have anyone's consent to do this study causing it to be unethical, and he also should not be able to do this because he is playing the role of god. In the beginning of the book, Victor Frankenstein described to Walton that he had created a monster using body parts from a graveyard.
