BUT my real opinion is that people with emotional or mental problems find it difficult to be accountable and to act reasonably. Some might actually have a good opinion of themselves or their abilities but still mistreat others. For example, the constant presence of relatives or good friends or a spouse reminds them of the possible social consequences resulting from drug abuse and of their neglected responsibilities. So, an alcoholic husband knows that he should spend money and time with his family, but his desire to spend time and money on alcohol is much stronger.
