“Money” a poem by Benjamin Zephaniah, the poem conveys the corruption and there problems that money causes around the world. Money is at the centre of everything we do and causes many problems in the modern world. Zephaniah created this poem to express the complications caused by money poetically and spread awareness to the world that money can be a corruptful, bad thing . Zephaniah uses rhyme, consonance, visual imagery, repetition, and many more poetic devices to show the reader the problems that arise from money. In the first stanza of “Money” it goes on about how money makes people feel saying, “Money makes a rich man feel like a big man, It make a poor man feel like a hooligan, A one parent family feel like a ruffian.” This stanza tells the effects of how a person feels based on how much money they possess. In the stanza it has the words “man”, “hooligan”, and “ruffian” which all rhyme making the poem sound more appealing and . “Man” is repeated over and over by Zephaniah to remind us we are all equal in the sense of what/who we are and that those with money are no greater than those without it. Zephaniah continues the poem about how money affects relationships between people going on to say, “An those who have it won’t give you anything, Money make your friend become your enemy, you start to see things very superficially, your life is lived very artificially, unlike those who live in poverty.” Zephaniah uses consonance with an ee sound throughout the last word in
