Ausin Savell In Tobias Wolff’s “Hunters in the Snow” Frank and Kenny find themselves bullying their friend, Tub, on their annual winter hunting trip. This leads the characters to unavoidable disaster. However, it allows the reader to learn more about the characters’ traits. Frank is particularly interesting because he is described as humorous, philosophical, and a pedophile. This makes Frank grow more and more intriguing as the story progresses. Frank is noted in the opening of the story as being humorous when he says “‘If you want to piss and moan all day you might as well go home and bitch at your kids (paragraph: 9).’” He is also shown to be humorous in paragraph Thirty-four when he says “Tub,’ he said, ‘you haven’t seen your own balls in ten years (paragraph 34).’” Frank made a joke when he said the deer could read as they followed the tracks to a fence the had a posted no hunting sign.
