An Analysis of Eva and Eddie

The book, What’s Left of Me by Kat Zhang is a Science Fiction/Dystopian book. The book is set in a modern but different world. The book is about a girl who have a receiving soul. The first perspective of the book is the receiving soul, Eva, and the second perspective is the body of the receiving soul, Addie. The girls are going to a clinic that has one purpose, to get rid of the receiving soul. As long as the stay in the clinic the girls find out that there are a lot of dark secrets about the clinic and that the only main unique secret about the clinic is that it’s not like a normal clinic.
In the book, Addie and Eva are an afraid but intelligent and persistent character. Eva and Addie are afraid at different situation in the book. When they were in the hallway with their friend they were afraid that someone will find them, “We stood absolutely still for several seconds, trying not to breathe, trying to come up with vailed excuses if someone had heard and came to check. And then Devon shifter- a sudden, harsh change like a jerk sideways. Nothing subtle. ‘Run,’ Ryan said” (102). This quote shows that Addie and Eva are afraid in many different ways. First of all, the author explained how their body felt, which made the readers understand how they felt. From the text, you can understand that they were afraid because, they didn’t feel very well. The author used body language to show how afraid they were. The second part of the quote that showed they were afraid was when Ryan told them to run. And that explains that it was for a reason, because they had to run from the place they were. Which means, they had a reason to be afraid of and they had to run.
