When answering the charge of the atheist, there is no God, the theist is inclined to answer this charge with passion, to prove God does in fact exist. The first and best proof is found in the inerrant word of God Himself, however, for the atheist there is no such inerrancy of the scriptures. The theist must use reason when presenting arguments to the atheist, to intrigue him to seek knowledge and understanding beyond the natural world, to provide answers to questions of why and how this universe came to be. The arguments for God’s existence are arguments which should be used in tandem to give a best explanation of the existence of God, the omnipotent, omniscient, morally perfect creator of the whole of the universe, whose existence is logically …show more content…

Much of what exists, exists in a symbiotic relationship, others simply exist because something else caused them, as this is observable in the natural order of the world. However this does not explain why anything in the universe exists. Their must exist something which is outside of this relationship, a cause for the things which are not logically required to exist, to in fact exist. A necessary cause, some thing or being which must logically exist. It seems absurd to argue no contingent things exist, that everything which exists is a brute fact. Therefore if there must be a cause for at least some things, not to assert their must be a necessary cause, leads to an infinite series of causes, and this fails to provide an definitive explanation for the existence of any contingent thing or being . The atheist, H.J. McCloskey does not claim, in his article, that such a necessary cause does not exist, for the universe as a whole or a collection of its parts, the objection is in this necessary cause as a necessary being, a creator. McCloskey states that using the causal argument the most which can be claimed is for an imperfect cause capable of causing the world we know, not a necessary being whom is a perfect omnipotent being …show more content…

Just as a computer is designed and will complete tasks as it is programed to complete, so too could the operation of the universe. The evolutionary process, if correct, is simply the manner in which the intelligent designer, God, accomplishes His tasks. The process of creatures adapting to their environment over time is a function of the design . This process is often viewed as imperfect, a perceived lack in some ability or proper function, or evil is also offered as a charge against existence of a perfect divine
