The Hamiltons live in Lihue, Kauai. They are a happy family who loves to surf. On February 8, 1990 the Hamiltons had their third and final child. Her name is Bethany. Bethany has two older brothers, Noah and Tim. Bethany learned to surf at a very young age. By the time she was 8 she was surfing competitively against other young surfers. She was so good, that when she was 9, she got her first sponsorship. Bethany spent so much time surfing that she was home schooled and her mom was her teacher. With hard work and determination, Bethany was on the waves stronger than ever. One year after the attack, Bethany decides to share her story. Bethany published her first autobiography titled, Soul Surfer. The book quickly became a best seller. By the time 2007 rolled around Bethany still surfs, and she’s great at it. At only17 years old, Bethany had made it to her first pro circuit. In 2011, 7 years after writing best seller, Soul Surfer, a movie was made based on the true story of Bethany’s life. Anna Sophia Robb stared in the movie playing Bethany. 2012 was a special year for Bethany, because she met a young preacher named Adam Dirks. They started dating, and in 2013 they married. It’s been about 10 years since Bethany wrote her first book. In 2014 Bethany wrote her second book titled, Body and Soul: a girl’s guide to a fit fun and fabulous life. This book focuses more on ways to stay healthy for women. Bethany and Adam had their first son, Tobias, in June 2015. He was born a healthy baby.
