Imagine fearing turning a corner at school, entering into a door, even making eye contact with someone. Bullying is a real thing many kids experience in their life. Many autistic, diagnosed mental illnesses victims, and other challenged individuals are bullied sad amount of seven days a week. People in general need to make this more known, and do something about it. A man with the last name of Pacer, who is a part of the National Bullying Prevention Center, states a very interesting statistic, informing that something needs to be done. “One study shows that 60 percent of students with disabilities report being bullied regularly compared with 25 percent of all students.”(Pacer) The disabled are bullied more than two times as much as the non-disabled, …show more content…

Any child that is bullied may be damaged emotionally and physically. One who is autistic does not process experiences the same way as someone without autism might. Autistic victims can interpret every-day situations and experiences differently, making bullying a lot worse to them. In other words, autism is hard for a person to deal with already, and when they are bullied it makes it much harder. Someone needs to stand up to these innocent victims, because studies show that if one person stands up, usually another will will too. My close friend did this by standing up to someone who was bullying, and beating up, an Autistic, sweet, boy! My friend saw this and immediately jumped in, perhaps saving the kid’s life. Some may argue that he, my friend, was being a bully to the person bullying the autistic person. But imagine if he had not stepped in though. People are afraid to help because of the name or title they may be given, and the fact that they may get hurt. People like my friend need to step in and stand out to be an example to
