Hello, my fellow classmates. My name is Emily Quia and I’m running for Student Council President. My job today is to answer the question, “What is it about this Emily girl that makes her qualified to lead us into our 2017-2018 school year?”. I’ve got three great reasons. First, I’m persistent. When I set out to do something, I give it my all. For example, at every school dance there comes a time when it gets a bit hot and sweaty. People start to clear the gym. How many of you have been to a school dance? [wait] Alright, then most of you know what I’m talking about. Then, the dance floor gets a little empty, but there’s always that one kid who stays on the dance floor, jamming out to the music, while the rest of us lean against the wall and fan ourselves. Well, you know what? I’m that one kid on the dance floor! And do you know why? Because I always feel like jamming out! Even when I’m alone and I look weird, and yes, even when it gets hot and nasty and all they’re playing is Justin Bieber at the school dance. I still jam out no matter what. Some of you may know that I once tried to give CPR to a duck. God rest its soul. If I found you passed out in 100-degree weather, and your feathers were wilted, you best be sure I’d totally give you mouth to beak resuscitation. But that’s not likely to happen. What is likely to happen is that you’ll be finishing your lunch on a hot day and I’m the kind of leader who will ask if I can take your trash to the garbage can. I’m the kind of leader who will sort the recycle and the waste. I’m the kind of leader who will change the toilet paper in the bathroom when it runs out. AND, I’ll make sure that the paper feeds OVER the top of the roll, not under, just so it’s easier to tear off. I’m the type of leader who will put air fresheners in the locker room.
