This shows that Mukhtar and his men do not see the need to take the lives of any more soldiers than need be. However, the death of the general in the convoy sparked an opportunity for the Italians to overtake a city out of revenge for this one man. Mukhtar and his men hold themselves in a higher calling as to make a point by claiming the least amount of lives. Another situation that raised was when the Italians attempted to bribe Mukhtar to leave the country and they would offer him safe passage to Egypt. Mukhtar never thought of leaving his people in the hands of the Italians, it would be more painful than death. The Arabs only fought for their right to live on their land before the foreign colonizers came to take it over. They fought for the utmost necessity of preserving their land and their faith. While the Italians, on the other hand, decided what the new rules would and took what they wanted. One of the scenes depicted the men taking the women from the seized village and raped them. Many are too scared to speak their own minds, therefore; they will just sit quietly in the background watching these horrendous scenes unfold. The lieutenant that Mukhtar let go was once again put in the spotlight was he was offered the privilege to give the command that would hang the criminals. Some of the Arabs were caught giving aid to the prisoners of war that was working up on the mountain. Among them was a woman, and the soldier that was supposed to give the command could not. He stated that he did not join the army to hang women. This soldier raised the awareness for himself that there are still some men in Italy that have some fair dignity. There are even some trials that overstep even some morals. Unfortunately, not everyone saw it this way and ultimately she was still hung. The rules made up by Italians have no consideration anyone other than their own
