Bob Marley, and The Wailers wrote, sung a song in the 1980s called “Redemption Song.” The most inspiring song written to date! A protest song that has lasted through decades, and is still just as powerful today, as the first time it was sung. “Redemption Song” describes the miss treatment, struggles and resilience of minorities. The first time you listen to the song, one could believe that Bob Marley was referring only to slavery. So clearly it is so much more than just slavery, the song is universal, and describes humanity's struggle. A struggle we all face, “Free your mind from mental slavery, none but ourselves can be our guide.” Simply put, we need to think for ourselves, embrace our individuality and not follow the crowd. Many of the worlds most tragic events may have turned out differently, if we only thought for ourselves.
