Florence Florence played a large role in the Renaissance. The Renaissance was the rebirth of most of Europe and most of the changes first occurred in Florence, Italy. The Mona Lisa was a painting created by Leonardo da Vinci. The painting was made from 1503-1517, and through that point Florence thrived. Still these days the Mona Lisa is loved by many. Lisbon Lisbon was one of the most important places throughout the Renaissance. When the Age of Exploration began they solely thrived more. Portuguese sailors sought for new lands, and different cultures. One of those sailors happened to be the one and only, Christopher Columbus. On their explore for Africa, Brazil, and Asia they found new lands, that is today referred to as the Bahamas. It was a crazy time to live in with all the new land, and new goods they discovered.
