An Interpretation Between Two Works Of Literature What I will be writing today is a comparison of two different poems, one called “Dear Mama” by Tupac Shakur and the other called “Mothers and Daughters” by Mora. Not everyone will understand the struggles of a single mother. In the late 90’s there was gang violence in Los Angeles, California and was poverty where Tupac grew up. A lot of his songs show how his experience was in the environment. In this song it shows how for a single mother to show love for her kids is hard when it was a time when they had a lot of gang violence. And the fathers would leave their children. In the poem “Mothers and Daughters” by Mora the speaker is the mother who is talking about the relationship of mothers and their daughters. They talk and show us how relationships between mothers and daughters can be complicated. In the beginning of the poem, she talks about the love that they share with each other. He compared her to that because even though she was an addict she still manages to raise a wonderful son. She had to raise him without a father figure in the house, while there is poverty going on, and while there is gang violence going on in Los Angeles, California. In the poem “Mothers and Daughters” the figure of speech is “arm-in-arm” this is showing an image of a mother and daughter’s bond. They are holding each other’s hand, talking, and having a good time
