The story An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge is a good example of how descriptive writing is able to portray a message because it's about a man who has a last dying wish come true in the characters mind right before death. It starts with, “As he pushes open the gate and passes up the wide white walk, he sees a flutter of female garments; his wife, looking fresh and feel and sweet, steps down from the veranda to meet him”(Bierce). The first quote from the article Some Trees and Sh*t , talks about issues in the world and the issues which are important to the general audience. The author says, “He was eloquent, yes, but he had to be; otherwise, he would’ve just been another bum ‘done wrong by the system.’”(Stolnik). It talks about the issue some people feel as if they do not contribute to society or the world in some important way than they would have been pointless and without purpose. The author was able to highlight the issue and allow the reader to connect to it because of how simplistic it was added to the writing. It worked extremely well because many people either feel the same way or are aware of it in others. The other quote from the article which supports the idea of connecting with the writing easily is when the author states, “You can never escape your problems because you are a part of society, but you are not the problem because it is society against you”(Stolnik). The first part discusses the idea of, people can not escape their problems because society says it is normal and people don’t need to get rid of it. The other part discusses
