Steroids are commonly associated with a negative connotation when it comes to athletes and body builders. Yet few are informed about the benefits steroids provide. There are two types of steroids: Cortisone and Anabolic steroids. Cortisone steroids are used to treat medical conditions whereas anabolic steroids are used to replicate human sex hormones. Steroids benefit those with hormone imbalances, respiratory disorders and increase athletic ability. Initially, cortisone steroids are being used as notable treatment for asthma and allergies. Asthma is commonly known respiratory disorder that affects many today. Typically prednisone is prescribed to treat patients with asthma and allergies. Cortisone steroids are available in tablet, liquid or even aerosol form. The aerosol form of the steroid is highly recommended for asthma patients, since it rapidly reaches the throat area providing significant relief to patient. Some refute the negative effects of steroids which include ulcers, weight gain, cataracts, high blood pressure, and easy bruising. Occasionally a news report of a well-known athlete using steroids pops up. Steroids enhance an athlete performance. Body builders and weight lifters also partake in steroids to intensify their abilities. Others contradict the usage of steroids as altering an athletic activity even discrediting the loyalty of a game. Each athlete has a right to enhance performance in whatever way he or she see fit. Steroids are easily sold through the black market. Granted there need to be regulations followed in sports but the way an athlete maintains his or her body is completely their decision. Athletes have given steroids a negative connotation with fellow athletes abusing the steroids. But in a whole steroids were created to help
