In order to analyse and compare contemporary policies of inclusive education; policies such as the Warnock review (1978) and the Children and Families Act (2014) must be critically reviewed and linked to how they have affected future educational policies; and ultimately, how they have benefited Special Educational Needs children within the education system. The UKs Education system will then be compared to Finland to compare the differences between educational policies and how they have written their inclusive policies. It must also be noted that for a school to be inclusive the infrastructure, the designs of the classroom, activities and lessons must be developed in a way in which every pupil can learn together. According to the 1995 disability discrimination act, for a school to inclusive schools have to make ‘reasonable adjustments’ to ensure that a disabled pupil is not at a disadvantage due to his or her impairment. This means that the school must prepare accessibility plans to show how they can increase inclusivity to disabled pupils. Reasonable adjustments could include changes to teaching practices, changes of the infrastructure within the school, for example having ramps and lifts installed, changes to assessment and proving extra support using specialist equipment and teachers.
