Analyze the creative and rehearsal process..

The selective students from Elective Drama class with diverse backgrounds were brought together on 2nd of February 2016 to perform the ‘Stations of the Cross’, a 2016 performance presenting the theme, ‘Traditional times Vs Modern times’ to the school audience. As a new class, our focus was great and the whole class was in the right mood to take part in their very first performance for the year. The casting/roles for the drama was open to all participants to choose. The whole casting process itself was very challenging and fun. I played the character of ‘Jordan’ in the drama and enjoyed my role. I was able to enact like a popular boy at school and my character required attention and pride. I had to also play the role of a friendly and good person. I am positive that I could show both these personal attributes in my role. It was an honor and a privilege to play my role for the first time to my class peer audience and to the whole Year 9’s including Year 7, 8, 10’s and key staff members of the school. I enjoyed and preferred performing in front of Year 9s as I knew I was part of the Year 9 group and was confident to receive their feedback both critical and constructive. Different audiences did affect my performance due to the fact that there were mature audiences. I wanted to perform my best and portray my character to the fullest potential as I was seeking acknowledgement/commendation gestures from the mature audiences on my character ‘Jordan’. Performing the same show four times a day was a bit exhausting though I found myself improving and gaining confidence as the delivery of my script was getting better each time. Also, I was totally engrossed in the character and couldn’t help myself out. Some of the highlights were in relation to the overall professionalism displayed by all characters, sound and visual effects and orderly progression of the stages of the ‘Stations of the Cross’. Another important highlight was incorporation of the dance in the drama. There weren’t any disappointments as such, but we could have improved in all aspects of the drama. Improvements such as voice projection, body gestures, seriousness and getting into the character and being the character was missing in some parts of the
