The collection focuses on the way that we relate and accept others. In the performance task, many of the text read that will be refered to show how there are other cultures, traditions and ways that things are different in societies. This is shown by the ways that people accept and forgive what harm has been done. In the reading, Texas v. Johnson, Gregory Lee Johnson was a citizen who spoke on his own rights about what the flag and America meant to him. In the act of burning the flag, Johnson was taken under arrest for the act that states that they cannot ‘criminally punish a person for burning a flag as a mean of political protest’. The arrest under the First Amendment caused a breach in peace and may be considered a ‘serious offence’. The burning of the flag was an offence to the flag and to Americans today but Johnson did this as an act of free speech and the unjust of the fair treatment to any single individual. In China, the leadership of the People’s Republic of China decided that anyone who disrespects the government policy may be slaughtered. The view of someone burning the American Flag can be looked at in many different views and people took the act as something that went against America, like turning the American Flag upside down.
