In the biography, “Coltrane: the story of a sound,” by Ben Ratliff, the message was to show the reader the person who changed the face of music and the way everyone thought about it. In this book, Ratliff explains Coltrane's life and what caused his life to end. John Coltrane was born on September 23, 1926, in Hamlet, North Carolina, he grew up with his father, mother and other relatives who all had a passion for playing music.
