“The world is a dangerous place, not only because of those who do evil but because of those who look upon and do nothing” this quote written by Elbert Einstein, accurately describes the poem “Just one voice” by Cyndi Ward. Cyndi Ward is an author who has a passion for animals in need. On the first of January Cyndi ward published her poem “Just on Voice”, as her passion became stronger after witnessing animal abuse. Cyndi wants to spread awareness about the problem of animal cruelty, hopefully this mission can spread awareness and eventually make this world a better place. Now, did you know that approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters national wide every year, of those approximately 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million cats? Likewise, more data was collected in 2015 which verified that 1 million 68 thousand and 34 animals were used in research and teaching in Victoria, 6 million 121 thousand 3 hundred and 3 in New South Wales and lastly 1 hundred 59 thousand 8 hundred and 54 in Tasmania. In the poem anaphora, rhyming and strong imagery is used. In the poem the words “Each of us we have a choice, each of us we have a voice” are repeated, therefore this is an example of anaphora. Rhyming is also evident in the poem with a rhyming scheme of A,A,B,B, for example verse one reads “Each day I learn, research and read, about all the animals who are in need, the circus the rodeo, the factory farm, the pain the fear the unbelievable harm” , the rhyming words in this verse would be “read and need”, “farm and harm”. Lastly, the strongest technique used is imagery, imagery creates visual representations of a scenario for example verse two line 2 reads “ The dog in the yard, chained in the rain” hence a visual representation would occur in the readers mind of simply a dog chained in the
