Desiree’s baby by Kate Chopin is set in Louisiana in the mid-nineteenth century on two white-owned plantations. The story happens sometime before the Civil War, and it explores the psychological impacts of slavery and racial inequality.The Mental and physical abuse that was very much a part of slavery are show through this story. In other words, the story explores the way that racism changes and distorts the psychology and lives of the white slave owners who control and benefit from it. The story demonstrates a few cases of how white impression of Black inferiority make peopl act cruel. Also the story shows a few cases of how even black people, because the whole world says they are less then, tend to have a disguised black inferiority complex,
