Learning beyond the classroom is a great experience to be taught life lessons. The LBC activity I went to was the great Dr. Marc Lamont Hill. He is a proficient speaker that spoke in the Student Center auditorium. His speech was very informational and very inspirational. I will explain most of his topics he spoke about in the speech and relate it to my life and society.
One of the topics he talked about was we are living in an Obama age. We have had a lot of the greatest moments in black history just in a few decades. A couple decades ago, African American males could vote in the United States for the first time in history. A little while later African American woman were allowed to vote. Even though we had some success in that time, we still had some set back; such as Jim Crow laws to keep blacks and whites separated. Dr. Lamont stated

The most important detail that he told us to do was for now on ask different questions. That really is powerful because I am the type of person who always asks questions until I know the full detail of how something is done or worked. Asking different questions will give out answers that were never heard before. Dr. Hill told us as the new generation to “lead the world better than how we found it”. Its sounds like a tough task to accomplish, all he said to do is to LISTEN. Dr. Hill stated listening is a challenge, and I understand him because most people do not listen in this era, everybody always has something to say. This event will affect not only my college experience, but the rest of my life. Dr. Hill said to always tell the truth, even when it is difficult. According to Dr. Mott, telling the truth is an act of bravery. In society today all we hear is lies on daily basics, such as the news, and people need to change that. We need to a group of people to expose the liars and tell the real
