The Manifestation of Visualization Inevitably, the world climate often changes and has become an issue that most people tend to ignore and refuse to talk about. In other words, the general population tends to ignore climate-fiction movies and stories because of the way the authors present them. That is, the point of views of the stories, articles or films doesn’t quite grab the attention of the viewers and so, viewers are not able to envision themselves in such environment. After much deliberation, I believe that Helen Simpson’s story “Diary of an Interesting Year” does an effective job emphasizing the issues on global warming due to the frequent usage of the narrator’s deep emotions and internal conflicts. This is because David Mitchell’s short story “The Siphoners” is overly unrealistic and thus, has an inferior possibility of happening in the future. The short story commences in mid-February of the year 2040 when the narrator receives a notebook and biro as a present for her 30th birthday from her husband, whom she refers to as G. The narrator then decides to begin a diary that predominantly centers around surviving in a post-global warming world. From there, the 30-year old narrator takes us through her journey of living and surviving in an uncivilized environment. By writing in the first-person point of view, the narrator provides us with her experience, thoughts, as well as her emotions. For instance, she shows her emotions by saying she “Got up and looked at myself in the mirror on the landing---ribs like a fence, hair in greasy rats’ tails” (Simpson 102).
