Community In Chrysalids

In the novel Chrysalids, John Wyndham illustrates a world where strict adherence society belief meant to protect the community, instead leads its to peril. The author evokes audience’s imagination about the fanatical religious of the Waknuk people, old style of leadership and how they are isolated from other nation by use the value of the words to draw up a visual about the society in Waknuk area.
In the novel, the writer demonstrated about the civilization and shadowed of the leadership’s working in Waknuk. The look and the living’s rules of this local area slowly appeared and it made people started neither wondering nor suspense about what will happen next, John Wyndham was basically successful in this case. Some of the people left who still service from the global disaster got huge impact; they were the main cause of high rate of deviation and they also got unusual shape. Any abnormal looking people were throw to the Fringes land or be killed, so the more deviation, the less population, this mean the amount of people left in Waknuk is small and suddenly they build more enemy side and conflict as well. The citizens thought that what they were doing and belief are good and useful to preserve their nation and they are wrong. The major reason why society belief was meant to protect but its lead the community to danger are uneducated and obsoleted. Apparently people depend too much on religious, like it’s been taking over people self control of thinking, the people was not able to seek new things around them, communicate or knowledge. Same reason as shiny object, the Great Horses were kill by a citizen because he though it’s were a deviation animal, actually its was cross-breathing animals. Not to mention, Aunt Harriet- a sister in law of Davis’s mother, she got 2 abnormal babies and all of them were die, the third child she was born is also deviation. In Waknuk, there was an irrational rule that any woman bore more than 3 deviation baby, that woman will be in Fringes. Strorm family was very anger and disappointed about Emily’s sister, they shouted right in front of the baby and blamed it as a Mutant. The poor Harriet so depress, she was finally suicide and hided the baby away. This is a tragedy story was made by the fanatical in religious, its can killed a innocent person, broke up a family, nearly killed a purely child and this is not what Waknuk people support to do if they want to protect their land. They are leading it to peril.
