The lorax and Easter Island (Polynesians) The Lorax by Dr.Seuss is a fictional story and the story Easters End is not. The Lorax has many messages about how if we are not careful we will soon be in a similar situation and also tells shows what shape are enviroment is in society by showing: Pollution both land and water, overpopulation, and having all the trees cut down. The sotry of the Polynesians show what is going to happen if we dont learn from their past and the mistakes they've made. The Polynesian people would make big statues made of stone and put them on platforms and they used many trees to make what they needed to move the statues. In The Lorax they used the Truffela tree to use as a resource for their product "the thneed"

The Breen Office regulated films in the mid 1930’s and the movie makers decided to embrace the American Values the Breen Office was trying to stand for. Sklar states that this new sense of American Values in film helped to “boost the morale of a confused and anxious people by fostering a spirit of patriotism, unity and commitment to national values,” (3597).

The United States Constitution guarantees citizens’ rights such as freedom of speech and religion, right to a speedy and public trial, and right against unreasonable searches and seizures. With these rights come responsibilities such as paying taxes and obeying federal, state, and local laws. Some are voluntary such as voting and being an active participant in the community. Citizenship rights outlined in the United States Constitution stem from Second Treatise of Government, Spirit of Laws, and Social Contract. These documents emphasize the rights and responsibilities of citizens in a democracy and provided the basis for the Constitution.
Science fiction can be described as a genre typically dealing with imaginative concepts such as advanced science and technology, spaceflight, time travel, and extraterrestrial life. The genre allows for readers to enter fantastic worlds that are more exciting than mundane reality. It invites us to consider the complex ways our choices and interactions contribute to forecasting the future. Though the lathe of heaven does not strike you as your typical science fiction novel, it is able to conform to the standards that are set within the science fiction genre. Through out the novel the Lathe of heaven written by Ursla Le quin, the concept of science fiction manifested through the idea of the didactic motive, where an ambitious psychiatrist and sleep researcher named William Haber, used the powers of George Orr an ‘effective’ dreamer to promote a Utopian harmony by destroying aspects of their current dystopian world.

Prior to the swimming pool scene, Cathy and Frank withdraw themselves from their inner most desires, in order to save their marriage. The couple is first seen at a New Year Eve’s celebration, during this scene there are subtle indications their marital issues are not resolved. Furthermore, the social hierarchy between blacks and whites is established, as there are black servants. However, this does not appear to phase Cathy, as she returns to her wifely duties to Frank.

Stylistically it’s difficult to not discuss a little bit of Mise en scène, Cinematography, Editing, and Sound for such a grandiose film. Chaplin’s film is a melodrama that invokes the emotions of his audience. Some elements of melodrama are present in Chaplin’s film The Gold Rush, the characteristics of a melodrama aid in analysing how melodramatic a silent movie is. An element of melodrama is, a situation - an occurring conflict in the film created by the screenwriter to evoke an intense emotional response from the viewers.
Citizen Kane challenged the traditional narrative and technical elements of classic Hollywood cinema mainly in the area of sound. Orson Welles was ahead of his time when he created his works of manipulating sound to transfer meaning in the film Citizen Kane. Welles used concealed hanging microphones to obtain different levels of sound throughout the film. The manner, in which the story was told, from Kane’s death flashbacked to his life of success and ultimate failure, was also a new style of storytelling for films. Welles also used symbolism with his last mumbling word “Rosebud.”

The theme of treasure appears very early on in the story. Santiago, a travelling Shepherd, has a dream one night telling him that his treasure awaits him by the pyramids of Egypt. This dream sparks his journey where along the way, the people he meets and the experiences he has shape and transform his idea and perception of treasure. In the end, Santiago finds his physical treasure but his journey is not over as he had once feared. Santiago’s perception of treasure has transcended the physical and now he has respect for the treasure of home, knowledge and love.
Baz Luhrmanns contribution to the art of film, brings about a flamboyant and revitalizing side to the industry. Through the use of cinematic language, his story telling techniques and belief in the theatrical cinema come to life. Baz Luhrmann has a very distinctive directing approach with particular techniques that define his style. He presents his films as if he were telling a story, which he invites you into. His stories are simple and he tends to give away the ending at the beginning of the film, which intrigues you to find out more about what had taken place.
