My first Urban legend is about The Russian Sleep Experiment. this Urban Legend takes place not long after World War 2 Soviet Researchers sealed 5 Inmates in an air tight chamber and gave them an experimental gas that would make the inmates be unable to fall asleep for long periods of time. The inmates were promised instant freedom if they could last 30 days without sleeping. The first 5 days were uneventful but the 4th inmate started showing signs of stress and insomnia. By the 9th day the screaming began. one Inmates screamed so loud he snapped his vocal cords so He could no longer speak or scream. On the 11th day the screaming and the talking stopped. One inmate was in a coma and the others were huddling in a corner and they wouldn't eat the food that they were given they would eat the wall, their hair, their own skin. By the 16th day 2 inmates were now in a lethal coma and the other 3 were completely insane they would mumble gibberish while rocking back and forth. When the researchers told them they were done they simply said "we do not wish to be free anymore". The next day when the gas wasn't turned on they kept yelling " TURN THE GAS ON!", The researchers thought about it and came to the conclusion that they need to stop the experiment. When soldiers rushed in what they saw was gruesome. They were all sitting up, even the ones that were in lethal coma's. They were all sitting perfectly still not saying anything. Finally they all said something, they started chanting "We are you. We are the madness that lurks within you all, begging to be free at every moment in your deepest animal mind. We are what you hide from in your beds every night. We are what you sedate into silence and paralysis when you go to the nocturnal haven where we cannot tread." then they all
