What is art? "Art is the conscious use of the imagination in the production of objects intended to be contemplated or appreciated as beautiful, as in the arrangement of forms sounds or words." some of the oldest works of Art come from China from the Bronze vessels to the unique beads. China is full of Many different forms of art made by many different artists throughout the years and the different Dynasties. From Chinese poetry to the way they build houses Chinese art is everywhere.
One of the most famous Chinese paintings is "One Hundred Horses". Drawn by Lang Shining during the Qing Dynasty. The artist of this painting was a missionary from Italy originally named Giuseppe Castiglione. Shining was a court painter in China for over fifty years before drawing One Hundred Horses. Shining was highly valued by three Chinese emperors Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong. He helped to create a hybrid style of art that combined the western realism with the traditional Chinese composition and Brushwork. "One Hundred Horses" is 320 inches long and 40 inches wide. My friend Eric said ‘I think of art more focused on nature. Mostly reds, greens, blues and blacks.” That stood out to me because I realized that he was right. A lot of Chinese art has trees, and flowers, and nature orientated stuff. A lot of Chinese art has simple thing like a tree or some flowers and a couple characters. Part of the beauty that Chinese art has is the simplicity. Nothing crazy and too much for they eyes to take in just a couple things so whoever is looking at it can really see the beauty within the couple things on the page, or plate or
