By using a variety of specific rhetorical choices, Gladwell develops his claim that “practice is far more important than natural talent.” For instance, in the text, Gladwell states that “the people at the very top don’t work just harder or even much harder than everyone else. They work much, much harder.” Here, Gladwell reinforces his claim that practice is essential in order to be successful; not just having talent. In addition, in paragraph six, he reveals that “researchers have settled on what they believe is the magic number for true expertise: ten thousand hours.”
The purpose of this summary is to describe how the recession started, the events that led up to it, the size, and what happened in result. The recession started in July of 1981 and ended in November of 1982. In 1980, the United States economy was already in bad shape due to a 6 month long recession that the United States economy eventually made a modest recovery from. Although the short 1980 recession is not the focus of this report, it did play a part in the events that led up to the 1981-1982 recession.

He tries to convince us with his argument by bringing up people like Bill Gates and the Beatles, stating that they spent more than 10,000 hours perfecting their craft. At first his argument seems pretty legit and holds merit, but then you begin to question. What if someone practices for 10,000 hours, but doesn 't put in much work? What if someone, who has spent few hours than 10,000 is excelling?

In the story "Outliers", Malcolm Gladwell uses a series of experiments and logical reasoning to clarify that practice determines the success of one's destiny. "In fact, by the age of twenty, the elite performers had each totaled ten thousand hours of practice. By contrast the merely good students had totaled eight thousand hours" (Gladwell 12). The experiment showed that the students that excelled had practiced a lot more than the merely good proving more practice determines success. In addition, the studies found from the experiment reveal that there were no "naturals" with the innate talent to be an elite performer.
My younger brother (Ken) and his son (Ty) are two examples of “Outliers” in my family. Although the product of a broken home, with a father both alcoholic and abusive, Ken married his high school sweetheart (Cheri) shortly after graduation. In "Outliers: The story of success", Malcom Gladwell explained and gave examples of ways to be successful. There are many ways that Gladwell mentioned, such as luck, practice, background, family, and culture. There are many more of course, but I will save time. There are three of which I think are the most important, these being Intelligence, Social Skills, and Location; and these are explanations as to why I think these are the most important.
As Gladwell explains what an outlier is, he explains an outlier to be a person who is out of the ordinary. All of these words are example of what outsiders feel like or what outsiders are.

Most of the student’s charges for the year fall between $100 to $150, hence the charges for the summer holidays, which range from $400 to $700 are collective outliers.
