“Outlier: something that is situated away from or classed differently from a main or related body”. Though this definition seems to state what an outlier is point blank, it can only go so far in describing how this characteristic applies to a person. Luckily, Malcolm Gladwell goes above and beyond in expanding on the dictionary definition and describing what it means to him in his novel Outliers: The Story of Success. He challenged one of the most highly debated questions in the world- what makes people special? Is it hard work, or natural born skill?
