The movie Perks of being a Wallflower directed by Stephen Chbosky follows a socially awkward teen Charlie who is a 'wallflower'. This changes when he meets two charismatic students who become his mentors. Sam is a free spirited senior and her humorous brother Patrick help Charlie discover himself. Charlie's teacher sparks his dream of becoming a writer but when his friends prepare to leave for college, his inner sadness threatens to shatter his newfound confidence. Charlie is 15 years old and has already had to experience two deaths in his life as well as being sexually abused when he was younger which left him with a mental illness, depression. His depression was caused after being sexually abused by his aunt who then died in a car crash,
