Have you ever been effected by school bulling? In the story Pricilla and the Wimps the bully Monk Clutter had the school under his control with his gang called Klutters Kobras. They had gone around the school taking lunch money from everyone. His self centered attitude had lead him too far over his head. While picking on a boy named Melvin he had finally met his match.
In “How to Handle a Bully,” by Kathiann Kowalski, an experienced journalist, Kowalski reports the different strategies to stop bullying. She informs that bullying is at its peak in the late teenage years, but can start in an early age. Kowalski concurs that girls intimidates as much as boys; however, they do it differently. She explores many reasons why bullying occurs at the first place, and who starts bullying. Kowalski exemplifies the situations that victims could be in, and the solution on how to handle the bully.
Literary Analysis of “Priscilla and the wimps” “Justice consists not being neutral between right and wrong, but in finding out the right and uphold it, wherever found, against the wrong.” - Theodore Roosevelt, US President. The story plot is their is a gang leader named Monk who bullies kids but messes with the wrong kid. In his short story titled, “Priscilla and the Wimps,” Richard Peck shares the journey of Monks bad choices to show that justice will be served to the wicked.
Bullying is a very terrible and overwhelming experience for any person to experience. Most people being bullied find that standing up for themselves is not an option because of the allusion that they have no power over the antagonizer. So imagine if the bullies were a fourth the age of the patronize victim. In Carolyn Thompson’s article,“ Bullied NY Bus Monitor Teaches Kindness Year Later” we hear the heart-wrenching story of an elderly bus monitor named Karen Klein, who witnesses that strangers affection expressed through a generous donation of an exponential sum of money can surpass the viciousness of a few immature boys. Thompson expresses her belief that Klein deserves this exceptional amount of money through the entirety of her article.
The word bullying has now been defined to mean a typical adolescent response to deem to be an outsider. This term fits perfectly for a few characters in this story
The underlying truth is the few who experience being bully their voice are taken away to fight against the cruelty, a piece of themselves and security are gone. According to Eleanor Gold’s article Vampires in the Lemon Grove – Karen Russell states, “Eric Mutis has been the favorite subject of Larry’s physical and emotional bullying” (Gold). Larry was uses to Eric’s fear of him, and the bullying became inevitable nor did he tries to stop Larry and his friends. Eric accepts the pain, even when Eric trust Larry about the situation with the rabbit, Larry became a fake friend and betray Eric at the end. In other words, Larry’s bullying is a sign of loss of innocence, Larry takes his anger out of every rich kid he and his friends come across.
One day, one gang member bothers Melvin but Priscilla doesn’t let it get by her. The article “Fast Fact: Preventing Bullying” is about bullying. It tells you the consequences of bullying but also what we can do to prevent it. By reading both these texts, “Priscilla and the Wimps” and “Fast Fact: Preventing Bullying,” I think they should be used by the book club because they share the theme that in life, you need to be responsible and do what's right. “Priscilla and the Wimps” should be used in book club because it teaches how you should care enough for others to help them when they are in need.
When reading literature, the only way readers can fully understand the characters is if there’s a conflict. What people do in the presence of a conflict can greatly differ from their normal state of mind. This applies to the characters in “Ta-Na-E-Ka”, and “Priscilla and the Wimps”. Mary is eleven and is going to experience her Ta-Na-E-Ka. Priscilla stands up for all the people who are threatened by Monk.
In the fictional book, The Outsiders (1967), Susan Eloise Hinton, better know as S.E. Hinton, asserts and reports that a young fourteen year old greaser, or “hood”, living in Tulsa, Oklahoma is more than he presents in a honest story of reality. Hinton writes a shocking and intense novel to establish a deeper meaning to the life of a greaser born on the wrong side of town. Susan Eloise Hinton develops the book off of her own highschool life when she was sixteen. Hinton tells the story along the lines of the Hero’s Journey Archetype, as the main character and protagonist, Ponyboy. Hinton’s purpose of starting this novel at age sixteen
The most impactful and usual time in life for children bullying in today world is middle school, when the kids are growing up. The process of accepting and seeing oneself accurately develops significantly in high school and college. This pattern holds true for Lucy, who begins this journey in the usual way enduring social awareness and bullying in schools and everywhere she goes. As a child Lucy experienced various kinds of bullying. The incident that takes place at the pony party convey how ignorant and rude today’s generation of parents’ and children can be, when the children compliment on Lucy’s face and the parents did not stop them: “what’s wrong with her face?”
Cindy Crawford is a graduating senior at Setabump University and is majoring in Business Management with a minor in Marketing. She is the captain of the volleyball team and is one of the best players on the team. She has won player of the year three years in a row. Next month is their national championship game, which Cindy must play in to guarantee a win. This year, each teammate’s grades cannot be below a ‘B-’.
The story “Priscilla and wimps” is about a gang at a school that likes to bully kids that are weaker than them. None of the kids do anything about it until something happens to Melvin. Priscilla decides to stand up for Melvin by karate chopping the bullys arm when they grab Melvin. Priscilla could have gotten hurt by one of the kobras but she didn't and ended up helping her friend.
Nearly every aspect of an average persons’ life is influenced by the media, government, or other authoritative figures, this including their personality. With social media, magazines, celebrities, and many other outlets, millions of people can see day in and day out the way they are supposed to be; pleasant, attractive, successful. Clearly, one can recognize how anyone in our society that does not fit this mold suppresses his or herself. On rare occasions will he or she embrace their eccentricities at full force. Nowadays bullying has become the major and common problem for children and can awfully affect their lives in many different ways such as depression and suicide. William Golding’s novel, Lord of the Flies, takes place in the 1950’s in England, where Golding used to be a school teacher and face many types of problems among children. According to his novel, bullying is a particular problem for Piggy who cannot fit in a community because of his initial appearance. Even though Lord of the Flies has many purposes and it is not focused on just one target, Golding explains bullying and its impacts on Piggy very smoothly beside the main idea of the story. He shows how bullying causes Piggy to lose his self-confidence, breaking his glasses and became dependent and intimidated.
This story is similar to the short story “Priscilla and the Wimps” because they both center around the theme of bullying and standing up for others. In “Priscilla and the Wimps”, Priscilla uses violence to stand up for Melvin, who is getting bullied by Monk. Priscilla is similar to the character, Jack, from “Wonder” and Melvin is similar to the character, Auggie, from “Wonder”. In both stories, Melvin and Auggie are frequently bullied. Though, in “Priscilla and the Wimps” it was never stated that Melvin was frequently bullied, I can make the assumption that he is a very easy target for the Klutter Kobra’s due to his small stature.
