In Descartes’s First Meditations Descarte describes that he wanted to forget all of the falsehoods that he learned as a child. Descarte describes that he wanted to “demolish everything completely and start again right from the foundations if I wanted to establish anything at all in the sciences that was stable and likely to last.” (Descarte 110) Descarte kept putting this task off until the right time for the “Demolition of my Opinions.” (Descarte 111) Descarte believed that it useless to make the point that all opinions are false so he went to the basic principle of which all of his former believes rested upon.
