For my second media choice I chose to pick a song. The song I chose is called 3:15 by Russ. In this song the artist Russ explains about how he wishes his partner would open up to her flaws. He tries to show his partner that he would understand and she shouldn't push him away because of her love for him. In his song he explains issues he has in relationships where when he gets attached he wants to push the person away. He also explains that he's scared of being used by a woman and finds it hard to find a woman who would want to be in a relationship. Russ believes not all women are honest about what they say and it's hard for him to find someone who would be honest about love. He wants to find someone rare and that's good for him. But also at the end of the song he speaks about how he believes he's getting used to being in a relationship and he has to leave before the other person leaves him. One more thing Russ brings up in his song is that he believes just because a woman loves him it doesn't mean anything but if she's real with him and means everything that's what's rare. Russ and his partner both show responses to trauma in different ways. One partner won't own up to her flaws while the other partner believes he's getting used and is the center of attention. In the article titled ‘Effects of trauma on relationships'' the author Sanjana Gupta states “Change your thought processes: A traumatic event can change the way you think about yourself, others, and the world around you” (Gupta, 2022.) The connection shows how someone with trauma would have a different thought process than someone who doesn't have trauma. When you have trauma it causes you to see a new light in the world others wouldn't be able to see and think. For example, Russ and his partner both view different types of light in the world because they deal with their trauma in different ways. This relates to the concept of healthcare as well because if the person with trauma would like to get help they would need to see a therapist. The author speaks about how many people in relationships deal with sexual abuse, violance, physical or emotional abuse, etc… The woman that had gotten abused and been emotionally abused had been used to it due to the fact that men usually raise the syrians. It's normalized because society in Syria lets men do whatever they want. This article relates to gender roles and gender inequality. In Syria they let men take control and allow men to have way more power than women. When a woman would fail a man's orders they were allowed to hit the women as a punishment. 3:15 and this article connect due to the way Russ’s trauma affected his partner and how women in Syria dealt with the trauma. In 3:15 Russ uses his trauma and affects others by leaving before they do. While the women in Syria do nothing about their abusive situations because it's normalized. The last concept connection that connects the song and the articles is power. Everyone has a different amount of power due to who they identify as. Depending on how much power a person has and how much they've been through it will affect the type of coping methods they used and how much they allow it to affect others around them as
