Paul Thompson in the article “Startling Finds on Teenage Brains” , claims that 14 year old Brazil, charged in last May’s shooting of middle school teacher Gunrow, was found guilty of second degree murder. Paul Thompson supports his by first explaining that Brazil was only 12 when the incident happen. He then says since he was only 12 , his brain was and still is not fully developed. Lastly the author says ,” teenagers are not yet adults , and the legal system shouldn’t treat them as such. Thompson’s purpose is to get the world to know , if children are not yet adults, why are they being treated like one in the legal system in order to stop it.

Thompson also talked about how statistically teenage brains are still developing throughout their teenage years. The brain is a very complicated machine as such, the brain is what controls our every move, every feeling and every action.

In his book, author Oliver Sacks tells the accounts of many of the stories he has encountered throughout his career as a neurologist. Each individual story ranging from a variety of different neurological disorders, displays a common theme which add to Sacks’ overall message conveyed. The themes that are conveyed by Sacks include losses, excesses, transports, and the world of the simple. Each theme consists of grouped stories that coincide with the overlying message.
