Speak is a novel by Laurie Halse Anderson which tells the story about a girl who was raped but does not tell anyone about it. She goes through this trauma alone. She was raped at a party while she was alone with a handsome senior named Andy in the woods. She has been quiet ever since it happened. The novel makes you feel what she is experiencing in present time. This novel is good for teenagers, because it’s interesting and has an unexpecting plot. The novel uses humor and sarcasm so it won’t get boring when reading. The bad thing about the novel is that it can be a little traumatizing for someone that went through what Melinda went through. Hence the strength of the novel is that it's entertaining
