The “the cask of amontillado” by Edgar Allan Poe, a bigger theme in the poem would be betrayal. An element would be talking in first person and imagery. He is a descriptive writer when it comes to his most famous pieces of work. A reason I chose this poem and writer is because not a lot of people understand his dark work. I find it more calming over the happier more upbeat poems because it seems it’s more fake.
First, Poe speaks in first person during the entire poem.
