I have read several books for my summer reading, but the one I am going to talk about now is The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon. This novel is about a young child named Christopher Boone whose symptoms indicate that he has a mild form of autism, or perhaps Asperger’s syndrome. When I first began reading the book, I really had no idea what it was about. At first the book only seemed to be about a special needs boy trying to solve the murder of his neighbor’s dog, Wellington, but as I continued on through the book, it became apparent that it was much more than what it previously seemed to be. Christopher writes about his investigation in a book, the book we are reading, as an assignment for the school he is attending.
“The curious incident of the dog in the night-time” a very hard book to understand. Many thinking happen that a person with no knowledge of the background will understand is they just picked out a page and read it. For starters it involves a boy named Christopher John Boone. Christopher is a boy with what seems to be a case of autism. Christopher has little things that bother him and that he doesn 't understand or like, he even gets offended by things that wouldn 't offend the average person.
utism is a disorder of brain development. It is characterized by the inability to interact socially, nonverbally and verbally along repetitive behaviors. A good example is Christopher, who is not able to socialize well with his parents, and at the same time, his utterances depicts that he has got some mental problems. By analyzing the book; Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, it is evident that through Christoper, Huddon manages to perpetuate stereotypes about autism.
In the novel, The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time, written by Mark Haddon, readers discern the correlation of events from the novel which display the protagonist’s behavior and illness. The protagonist, Christopher, is described to be suffering with a form of autism, Asperger’s syndrome. Asperger’s syndrome is not considered to be a diagnosis on its own, however, it’s part of a broader category called autism spectrum disorder (ASD) (Bhandari, 2016). Throughout the novel, numerous events are depicted that prompts readers to grasp the normalities of Asperger’s syndrome, many of which dawn from the common symptoms.
Imagine a rock. A little rock. With speckles of gold and silver. There are two lenses to peer through. A scientific, logical lens tells us the natural processes, the distribution of gold and silver in the ground, the pressure of the sediment above, which all combined to create the rock.
Three writing techniques Mark Haddon uses to portraying how Christopher thinks In The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, Mark Haddon shows how Christopher, someone with autism, operates. One way he demonstrates this is through the way that he goes off topic all the time. In one example, he goes from talking about going into his father’s room to talking about what objects Joseph Fleming eats in a couple of sentences. In another example, Haddon explains Christopher’s actions and opinions by spelling out why he likes timetables.
Many people who go through a divorce, have children and are forced to go through custody battles. Often times both parents want full -custody of his/her child and he has to prove why he is the better parent for the child in question. In Mark Haddon’s Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, the separated parents, Mr. and Mrs. Boone, have a child with special needs, making the battle even more intense. Christopher has Aasperger's, and only the most dedicated parent can properly take care of him in the way he needs. Mr. Boone should receive full custody of Christopher because he is more willing to defend Christopher and is better at making accommodations for Christopher, even though he does grab him without permission, but it is better

Christopher is like any other normal teenager in that, he has goals in life, he wants to become independent and find what he wants to do in his life. Unfortunately he has a mental disorder that keeps him from doing that. The book starts off when Chris finds his neighbor’s dog murdered and follows his teacher’s advice to write a story. Character is the thing that defines a person. What you will do, what you will say, how you interact with the world. Admittedly, all of us have character. But, the character of Christopher is a very interesting and a complex one. In times, it feels as if he is an alien compared to everyone else.

In the book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time A pretty big theme is math. The math that is presented in the book is very interesting and makes the book very unique from other books, but it is also kinda hard to follow and sometimes makes the text difficult to read. Having to get used to his chapter system, the random equations he puts in there, and not really needed insight on maths made it an interesting read, to say the least. When I first started reading this book it was difficult to start out because of how interesting his text is.

This syndrome causes Christopher to deny some things in his life. For example, he will not eat anything yellow or brown because he doesn’t like those colors. He wont eat anything from the same plate, and he will decide on how his day is by counting the amount of yellow and red cars he sees on his way to school every morning.
