The Fizz on Soda Critique
The documentary, The Fizz on Soda discusses the brief history of soda and how modern-day soda contributes to obesity and related health risks. Throughout the documentary, the editors use a multimodal approach at convincing the audience that soda no longer has the healing properties that it once did. The documentary utilizes visual, auditorial, and gestural modes to persuade the audience that soda is bad for you.
The Fizz on Soda utilizes visual aids throughout the documentary. Some of these elements are historical images, soda clip art, and modern-day logos. The images displayed relate directly to the information being presented to viewers. The historical images of pharmacists’ soda fountains and old-school bottles aided in immersing the audience in the story of its creation. The work also incorporates newer image elements like clip art and modern-day logos to create a timeline in the audience's minds.
