These white men are not like us and They’re dangerous to us all! We will not be broken and turned into slaves. These are the feelings that these Native American Indian Leaders thought, as they wrote from the heart. Red Jacket wrote “The Great Spirit Has Made Us All” and Tecumseh wrote “The White Men Are Not Friends to the Indians”; the two are quite similar in context but have different meanings from interpretations. These pieces have information containing historical documentation, from how the Native Americans had to go through hardships from the Europeans coming to colonize. They both us the word “Brother”, but Brother was used to start off most of the sentences and used into different context. Red Jacket uses “brother” as a term to be friendly towards the Europeans, whereas Tecumseh uses the word “brother” for a familiar feeling towards his brethren Native American Indians. This is a difference between the two, Red jacket wants to the Europeans and Native Americans to know that they all come from one Great Spirit. Tecumseh wants the Native Americans to know that the White men are not our friends and that they have evil spirits, that they brought among them like a plague. They both pointed out the terrible conditions, the Europeans faced when they arrived at the Natives land. They implied firmly that this land was and will never, be theirs. Tecumseh states “When the white men first set foot on our grounds, they were hungry; they had no place on which to spread their blankets, or to kindle their fires” (Pg. 516). He says that “Our” grounds and help that the Europeans needed of the Native Americans to survive; implying that the Europeans were like viruses coming into a place that does not welcome them
